FOLATUR STRENGTHENS WORK AGENDA TO IMPROVE COMPETITIVENESS OF THE SECTOR
From the 2012, trade associations from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela make up the Latin American Tourism Forum
With the incorporation to WTAAA (World Travel Agents Associations Alliance), FOLATUR strengthens the action of tour operators and Latin American travel agents at an international level
Folatur - Latin American Tourism Forum - which brings together trade associations of travel agents and tour operators of 11 countries in the region, held its first meeting this year, in the city of Asunción of Paraguay, continuing their joint work on those issues common to the unions representing the distribution channel of their respective nations.
The Latin American Tourism Forum, whose legal headquarters are the city of Asunción del Paraguay, was created 6 years ago and is currently integrated by trade associations from Mexico to the southern tip of the Americas: FAEVYT, Argentina; ABAVYT Bolivia; ABAV, Brazil; ACHET, Chile; ANATO, Colombia; ASECUT, Ecuador; GMA, Mexico; ASATUR, Paraguay; APAVIT, Peru; AUDAVI, Uruguay and AVAVIT, Venezuela. It is presided over by Guillermo Correa, President of ACHET, Chile, and is accompanied by Vice President Paula Cortés, Executive President of ANATO, and Fabricio de Giambatista, President of FAEVYT, entity in charge of the Forum secretariat.
At the working meeting on 11 last April in Asunción, the presidents and directors of associations addressed various issues that seek to improve the competitiveness of the Marketing Channel, among which aspects related to the air transport industry, especially linked to the developed programs. and imposed by IATA (International Air Transport Association), and which are clearly an obstacle for those who are part of the marketing channel, such as NDC (New Distribution Capability), New Gene ISS (The New Generation of IATA Settlement Systems) and PCI DSS Compliance (Payment Card Industry Compliance) .Also, the status of the authorization request made by LATAM was reviewed, to finalize a Joint Business Agreements (JBA's) in Chile, regarding the consultation carried out by ACHET with the National Economic Prosecutor of this country, which is currently endo reviewed by the Court of Free Competition in Chile.
Finally, as an important milestone for FOLATUR, it will be its participation and official entrance before the WTAAA (World Travel Agents Associations Alliance, for its silga in English), occasion in which FOLATUR will present its concerns before this world forum. The entity's Annual Meeting will be in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, between the 9 and 10 next May.
