1 ° Forum of National Tourism Ministers of the Southern Cone

The member countries of FOLATUR (Latin American Tourism Forum) along with other leaders of the regional tourism sector, held the 1 ° Forum of National Tourism Ministers of the Southern Cone under the 21º edition of FIT International Tourism Fair from Latin America.

The Minister of Tourism of Argentina, Gustavo Santos; Marcela Bacigalupo, Minister of Tourism of Paraguay; Javiera Montes Cruz, Deputy Minister of Tourism of Chile; Alberto Alves, Minister of Tourism of Brazil; Joaquin Dorado Rhodes, Deputy Minister of Tourism of Bolivia and Hector Lescano, Ambassador of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay in Argentina representing the Minister of Tourism and Sports, liliam kechichián; They discussed the implementation of an agenda of working together to promote alternatives to joint tourism programs that aim to gather and promote the common interests of countries in the region.

During led by the Minister of Tourism of Argentina Gustavo Santos, top representatives in the field event, joined forces and captured their commitments through the signing of the Declaration of Ministers of Tourism Southern Cone reflecting the commitment to implement policies public, coinciding with the agenda that has been raising since FOLATUR, to promote regional tourism. In this sense, it addressed the need to improve air connectivity, work together with a comprehensive development strategy that enhances destinations in South America, to promote a common visa policy that promotes growth and development of integrated tourism circuits driving work set and thorough review with the public world in these and other initiatives concerned.

The President of FIT (International Tourism Fair of Latin America) and FAEVYT (Argentine Federation of Travel and Tourism Companies Associations) Fabricio Di Giambattista also participated in the call; the Project Manager of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), Ricardo Quiroga; officials of the Argentine National Government; of the National Ministry of Tourism; of the National Institute of Tourist Promotion; Ministers and Secretaries of Tourism of the Argentine provinces and representatives of the attending countries.

Minister Gustavo Santos highlighted the importance of strengthening the South America brand and affirmed that "It is the first time that a declaration of this magnitude has been signed, which shows the potential and possibilities that we have as a region". Meanwhile, Fabrizio Di Giambattista, President of FAEVYT and FIT, said: "It was a pleasure for us to be able to carry out this First Forum within the framework of our Fair, participating in this exchange of ideas that we believe will allow us to implement key tools for our region in terms of the tourism industry."
